Vanderbilt has made the difficult decision to postpone Reunion 2020 until the fall of 2021.

We understand that this news is disappointing and want to assure you that the university arrived at this conclusion only after much conversation and consultation with public health experts and university leaders. As much as we were looking forward to being together on campus, our primary goal must remain focused on protecting the health and safety of Vanderbilt alumni and their families, as well as our university’s students, faculty and staff. Like you, we were looking forward to Reunion, but we also support and understand the decision to make the health and safety of the entire Vanderbilt community a top priority.

While the world has changed dramatically in the past few months, our Owen community remains strong. At this moment in particular, we encourage you to stay connected—or re-connect—with former classmates and friends, whether online or in some other way.

The university has started the process of identifying a new date for Reunion, which we look forward to announcing in the fall. Currently, Vanderbilt plans to host a combined celebration event for all alumni whose Reunion years fall in 2020 and 2021. Given this expanded community of alumni, it is sure to be one of the most memorable Reunions ever! We also plan to reach out to alumni for input as we plan these festivities to be meaningful and unique.

To assist with your travel and planning, the university will reach out to our lodging and hospitality partners to make them aware that this year’s Reunion has been moved to 2021.

There is no denying that this is an unprecedented moment in our world and for Vanderbilt. Many of you have supported the Student Hardship Fund to make a difference for students during this difficult time. You have also participated in webinars and other virtual events that strengthen your ties to the university. We all have an important role to play, and perhaps now, more than ever, it’s important to stay united as Commodores as we work toward building a better Vanderbilt.

We look forward to seeing you all at Reunion 2021!
